June 2, 2016 -- The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is proud to announce that Kiersten Hewitt is the new executive director of FCD Prevention Works in Newton, Massachusetts. In her new role, she assumes the position of long-time FCD leader Tom Gee. Hewitt previously served as the Regional Officer and Senior Prevention Specialist at FCD.
FCD Prevention Works™ is the leading international nonprofit provider of school-based substance abuse prevention services. For decades, FCD has worked worldwide to provide students and the adults who care for them with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to make intelligent, healthy choices about alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
Hewitt joined the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation at FCD in 2013 as a prevention specialist. She subsequently moved to the role of Sr. Prevention Specialist, and then to her current position as Regional Officer of the Mid-Atlantic Region. Her previous work included several years of clinical experience specializing in adolescent substance abuse disorders and clinical supervision at Onward Behavioral Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Hewitt received her undergraduate degree in Organizational Management from Cabrini College in Radnor, PA, and she completed her Masters of Science and Education at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.
As the new executive director, Hewitt will oversee the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for FCD, in alignment with the strategic initiatives, policies, standards of care, and parameters of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. She will also be responsible for managing client relations, program services, administrative services, and the worldwide regional operations of FCD.
