Butler Center for Research

The vision of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Butler Center for Research is to support sustained recovery from the disease of addiction for all who seek help by way of advancements in knowledge and integration of research of addiction treatment into practice.

While science confirms the effectiveness of addiction treatment, the internal and external processes that produce change remain relatively unknown. The more we can objectively describe and measure processes and indicators of change, the better we can target addiction treatment efforts, improve patient outcomes, and advance the field.

As a part of our scientific inquiry, the Butler Center for Research conducts research studies involving patient populations at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. These studies are designed to further elucidate the mechanisms underlying effective treatment for drug and alcohol problems.
