Executive Director of Minnesota Outpatient Services, St. Paul, Chaska, and Maple Grove


Before joining Hazelden, Terri Hayden was director of chemical health services at Chrysalis, a Minneapolis nonprofit organization that provides a wide array of services to women and their families. She was also an adjunct professor at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Terri has a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Augsburg College, Minneapolis and a Master of Arts in psychology from St. Mary's University, Minneapolis. She is currently completing her dissertation for a doctorate in education and leadership at St. Mary's University of Minnesota.

Al Updike started as an LADC counselor in St Paul, pioneering the morning IOP program; then as an outpatient supervisor for St Paul; and now manages both the Maple Grove and Chaska sites. Al received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and psychology from Carleton College, Northfield, MN. He holds a Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling from the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies.

Manuel Garcia is an outpatient counselor for young adult males at Hazelden in Maple Grove, as well as the continuing care groups for health care professionals and pilots at Hazelden in St. Paul. Previously Manuel worked at the Emily Program, an eating disorders program. He received his Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling through the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies.

Tom Hegblom is an outpatient program counselor at Hazelden in Maple Grove. He enjoys watching patients evolve and develop active and healthy programs of recovery at the outpatient level of care. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in youth studies and Spanish from the University of Minnesota, and is continuing his education at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies.

Nikki Larsen is a facilitator of the men's outpatient program at Hazelden in Maple Grove, MN. A graduate of College of Saint Benedict and St. John's University, she earned her Master of Arts in Addiction Studies: Advanced Practice at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies. Previously, Nikki worked admissions at Hazelden in Center City, MN where she assisted patients seeking addiction treatment services.

Cassie Tripp, BS, LADC is the facilitator for the evening women's outpatient program at Hazelden in Maple Grove, MN. She enjoys getting to see patients evolve and grow in their recovery through the treatment process. Cassie has previously worked in various levels of care including women's outpatient and adolescent outpatient services. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree through Saint Cloud State University.
