Our programs include integrated mental health services for co-occurring mental health issues. Each patient's length of stay is truly individualized and based on the patient's needs. Assessments and residential evaluations At the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, we do not assume a diagnosis of alcoholism or other addiction exists when people contact us for help. Our expert alcohol and drug assessment process provides an accurate diagnosis along with recommendations for follow-up care. Assessments can either be over the phone or in-person with a licensed addiction professional. For more complicated assessment needs we provide residential evaluations. Whatever the form, an assessment is the place to start. Call us to schedule an appointment at 1-866-831-5700. Inpatient Treatment Our inpatient programs provide thorough addiction, mental health and medical assessments. Detoxification can begin immediately with our on-site medical units staffed by medical doctors and nurses. Each patient is assigned a treatment team, which can include a physician, nurse, psychiatrist, psychologist, primary counselor, case manager, spiritual care counselor, family counselor, dietitian, wellness specialist, and chemical dependency technician. This team is responsible for assessing and working with each patient to establish an individualized plan of care and post-treatment recommendations designed to support ongoing recovery. The length of stay varies based on the clinical needs of the patient but the typical length of stay is 28 to 30 days. When more time is needed For patients with complex recovery issues that require more time, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation offers extended lengths of stay. This allows for more in-depth time on special issues, mental health complications, relapse prevention and sober living skills. Patients have time to put into practice their new recovery skills and develop a deeper understanding of what they need to do to recover. Patients typically stay 60 days but some people require up to 90 days.
