Do I even need treatment?

If you're wondering about this, it may be because you've noticed some areas of your life feeling harder to manage—whether it's your relationships, your emotional well-being, your physical health, or how you're coping day to day. These are just a few signs that your alcohol or drug use, along with underlying mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or trauma, could be affecting your ability to function—and that you could benefit from outpatient or inpatient treatment.

Treatment at Hazelden Betty Ford isn't just about addressing substance use. It's about healing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. That includes caring for your mental health, building healthier coping strategies, and reconnecting with what matters most to you.

At Hazelden Betty Ford, our care navigators are here to support you. We'll listen to your story, help you explore the types of care and support available, and guide you toward the next steps that feel right for your recovery and mental wellness.

What is detox like—and why is it important?

Detox can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to have questions or concerns. When you stop using alcohol or other drugs, your body needs time to adjust—and that process, called withdrawal, can be unpredictable and uncomfortable.

At Hazelden Betty Ford, detox is done with care. It's medically managed and closely monitored to help ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. Our goal is to make the process as safe and comfortable as possible, so you can start feeling more stable—physically and emotionally. That way, when you're ready to begin treatment, you're in a better place to focus on healing and the next steps in your recovery.

Why are opioids so addictive?

Whether unregulated, prescription or illicit, all opioids have serious potential for misuse and addiction. There are complex physical and psychological processes involved, and dependence on opioids can be so incremental that it's not recognized as addiction until you're in crisis.

The strength of heroin, fentanyl and other unregulated or illicit opioids can unpredictable because other substances are sometimes added to increase volume or enhance potency. Learn about the symptoms of opioid addiction and the most-effective treatment approaches. At Hazelden Betty Ford, our specialized treatment for opioid use disorder is designed to ease the discomfort of withdrawal, reduce cravings, and help you engage successfully in treatment.

Can virtual care really work for addiction treatment?

Absolutely—and for many people, it's been a game-changer. Virtual care makes it easier to get the help you need, right from the comfort of your home. Whether you're juggling a busy schedule, live far from a treatment center, or have mobility or transportation challenges, online treatment can remove a lot of the barriers that might otherwise stand in your way.

At Hazelden Betty Ford, our virtual programs use the same trusted, evidence-based therapies as our in-person care. That means you're getting high-quality support, just in a more flexible and convenient format. In fact, many of our patients find it easier to stay engaged and attend regularly because it fits more naturally into their lives.

If you're looking for a way to start healing that works with your lifestyle, virtual care could be the perfect fit..
