Visiting a loved one in addiction treatment?
The care, love and support of family and friends is vital to the healing and recovery of your loved one. The privacy, respect and safety of your loved one and all of our patients is of the utmost importance.

Visitor Expectations

Confidentiality of all patients is to be respected.

Visitors must park at the street as space is available.

Check in at the front desk in the main lobby.

Register each time you visit.

Visitors are to wear their Visitor name badge at all times while on campus.

Hazelden does not offer cafeteria services to visitors.

All packages must be opened in front of a Hazelden staff member.

Do not bring any over-the-counter medications for the person you are visiting.

No vitamins, dietary supplements, over the counter medications, herbal remedies or energy drinks allowed.

No medications in baggies.

Pets are not permitted on campus.

The use of cameras and video recorders (including those on cell phones) is not allowed on Hazelden property.

Transportation

Hazelden's alcohol and drug addiction treatment center in Chicago is located 1.5 blocks north of Chicago Avenue and one block west of State Street, in the heart of the "Gold Coast" neighborhood.

From Union or Northwestern train stations

Taxis are available outside the station.

CTA Bus from the train station: Walk west five blocks to Dearborn Street. Catch the Clark #22 bus going north on Dearborn. Get off the bus at Chestnut Street. Hazelden Chicago is a half block north between Chestnut and Delaware Streets.

CTA Train: RED line train to Chicago and State, walk one block north and one block west. Or take the BROWN line to Chicago and Franklin, walk four blocks east and one block north.

Metro Train: Take the train to either the Northwestern or Union Stations, take a cab from there.

Parking

Metered parking spots available on all streets surrounding Hazelden. On Dearborn Street metered parking accepts quarters and credit cards. Maximum time on all meters is 3 hours.

Parking in the lot at 100 W. Chestnut on the northwest corner of Clark and Chestnut (entrance on Clark street).

Garage parking is also available. Garages in the immediate vicinity of Hazelden include:
