As the chief nursing officer, Jill Seward, MSN, RN is responsible for the clinical functioning of our nursing staff, the standardization of nursing services, the improvement of patient outcomes and the protection of patient safety. But her actions extend well beyond her job description, and into the hearts of patients and employees across the organization. Ultimately, Jill is a champion for excellence in health care and the embodiment of our mission to treat substance use and co-occurring disorders with kindness, grace and compassion. Recipient of the Health Care Hero award in 2020, Jill was acknowledged for her shrewd leadership and decision-making at the helm of the COVID-19 Incident Command Team. As the head and heart of our nursing staff, her compassionate, level-headed leadership is the trademark of her tenure, and the award represents only a microcosm of her broader legacy at Hazelden Betty Ford. Prior to her tenure at Hazelden Betty Ford, Jill was the director of nursing and client management at the Emily Program. Jill holds a bachelor’s of science in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and a master’s of science in nursing leadership and administration from Capella University. Jill has been with Hazelden Betty Ford since September 2015, and she has been an exemplar of hope and healing for all.
