Quyen Ngo, PhD
Executive Director, Butler Center for Research
Quyen Ngo, PhD leads research activities at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as the executive director of the Butler Center for Research. She earned her PhD in clinical psychology and women's studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship. Over the past eight years, Dr. Ngo has conducted grant-funded research on the role of substance use in intimate partner violence and technology-enhanced brief interventions for substance use disorders. |

Princess Drake, PsyD
Mental Health Practitioner and Adjunct Assistant Professor
Princess Drake, PsyD, is a mental health practitioner at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and serves as an adjunct assistant professor within the Hazelden Graduate school of Addiction Studies. Dr. Drake completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Florida School of Professional Psychology (FSPP) in 2018. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Center City, Minnesota, and is currently completing the process for licensure. Dr. Drake earned her master's of arts in clinical psychology from FSPP in 2015 and master's of science in professional counseling at Lipscomb University in 2012. She currently serves as a member for The Trust Student and Early Career Psychologist committee. Her primary interests include co-occurring disorders, trauma, psychosis, diversity/cultural considerations, gender and sexual minority concerns, and personality disorders. Dr. Drake is dedicated to working with diverse populations and obtaining additional experience through leadership, mentoring and academic training. She has previously served as the Florida Psychological Association (FPA) Board of Directors student representative and FPA Graduate Students president, American Psychological Association of Graduate Students campus representative, and FSPP Student Psychological Association mentor coordinator.

Stephen Delisi, MD
Medical Director, Professional Education Solutions and Assistant Professor
Dr. Delisi has served as a clinical psychiatrist for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation since 2005 and is board certified by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. For the two years prior to becoming the Medical Director of Professional Education Solutions, Dr. Delisi was the Assistant Dean of the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies. He has also served as the Midwest Regional Medical Director for National Recovery Services at Hazelden Betty Ford and has held faculty positions with Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Delisi has co-authored numerous presentations and published abstracts, many of which focus on the use of evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. He is a nationally recognized speaker and leader in the effective implementation of integrated treatment to address substance use disorders and embodies a person-centered approach to the medical treatment of substance use disorders that is imperative when integrating medical services into the rest of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Prior to joining the Hazelden Betty Ford, he held positions as Director of Psychiatric Services at Rush Behavioral Health-DuPage and Associate Director of the Psychiatric Residency Program at Rush University Medical Center.

Joseph Lee, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
Joseph Lee, MD, serves as the president of the graduate school and as the president and chief executive officer of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Dr. Lee has extensive experience in addiction treatment for youth and families from across the country and abroad, providing him an unparalleled perspective on emerging drug trends, co-occurring mental health conditions, and the ever-changing culture of addiction. A triple-board certified physician, Lee completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry from John Hopkins Hospital, his adult psychiatry residency at Duke University Hospital, and his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's Substance Abuse Committee. He is also the author of Recovering My Kid: Parenting Young Adults in Treatment and Beyond, which provides a candid, helpful guide for parents in times of crisis.

Andrew Williams
Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion
Andrew Williams is the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's first director of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Williams hails most recently from the University of Minnesota Rochester, where he served as assistant vice chancellor for student success, engagement, and equity. In this role, Williams will drive cultural and behavior change across the organization to increase diversity, advance equity and foster inclusion. Serving as a strategic partner with others throughout Hazelden Betty Ford, he will champion DEI awareness, understanding, allyship and advocacy as well as the advancement of underrepresented groups. He aims to inspire others through example, challenge colleagues to live up to institutional values and legal obligations, and engage in creative and meaningful intercultural experiences. Williams works with the internal DEI Committee—which has laid the groundwork for the organization's three-year strategy to effect change in the workforce and in patient, family and student populations—and partner with external organizations to create opportunities to serve more people affected by addiction. Williams' experience includes more than 20 years in higher education diversity and multicultural leadership, including posts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs in Minneapolis; and Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He also is an educator and fundraiser, and is active in his local community.

Emily Piper, JD
Executive Director, Government Relations & Contracting
Emily Piper, the former commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Human Services (DHS), joined the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in February 2019 as executive director of government relations and contracting. An attorney, she is responsible for the organization's government affairs strategy, focused on state and federal regulatory and public policy opportunities as well as the expansion of core business segments via government contracts and public-private partnerships.

Angela D-B Reed
Chief Operating Officer, Turning Point Inc.
Angela D-B Reed has worked intimately with local and African American communities throughout the country. In her previous position, she teamed with educational organizations and other institutions as a capacity building assistance provider. More specifically, Angela worked on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, helping to develop and implement effective prevention strategies among individuals, communities and other organizations. Angela currently serves as the chief operating officer of Turning Point—a culturally-specific treatment facility with housing, training and other support services. Turning Point was established in 1976 and meets the needs of the hardest to reach African American populations, both locally and nationally. Her areas of focus include intervention, cultural planning, logic modeling and program creation.

Jeremiah Gardner
Director of Communications and Public Affairs
Jeremiah Gardner has worked in communications and public affairs for 25 years, including the past eight with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. His responsibilities include media relations, strategic communication and public advocacy. As a former reporter and editor with The Associated Press, he was published in newspapers nationwide and was once named outstanding graduate at The Fund for American Studies Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown. Gardner is the co-author of Zero to Something, a book about leadership development, and serves on the board of Dissonance, a Minnesota nonprofit committed to creating conversation and community around wellness and the arts. He holds bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science and a master's degree in addiction studies, and is a licensed counselor in Minnesota. He is in long-term recovery, and he is always grateful for the opportunity to support others affected by addiction.

Jodie Carter, Manager Digital Products
Jodie Carter has a Master's in Communications and more than 15 years of experience in content strategy and digital health empowerment programs. At Hazelden Betty Ford, her team designs and creates award-winning digital products that help people manage chronic diseases while also improving their spiritual, emotional and physical health. Among her many achievements, the Field Guide to Life app won the 2013 White House Behavioral Health Challenge for best app for patient empowerment, and Jodie remains a steward of exceptional health experiences for both patients and providers who work toward healthier living for all.

Abigail Karels, Senior Acquisitions Editor
Abigail Karels oversees curriculum development for mental and behavioral health products. Prior to joining Hazelden Betty Ford, she spent ten years writing curriculum for an education management organization that operated public, private and charter schools throughout the U.S., Europe, Africa and the Middle East. She has taught English in Ibaraki, Japan, and managed projects for the Target Corporation. Abby has an undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College and an MA in International Educational Development from Columbia University Teachers College.

Wes Thomsen brings two decades of experience in broadcast television, film, app development and social media content to the ever-changing platforms of communication. During his last eight years with Hazelden Publishing, Wes earned several Telly and Cinema in Industry awards in scriptwriting, directing and production. His hands-on style of visual communication has lead him to shoot, edit and direct projects across China, Australia, New Zealand and India. His work has been sponsored by FujiFilm USA and he has been recognized with awards at film festivals in Frankfurt, Milan and across the United States.

Tessa Voss MA, LADC, CADC II
Executive Director, Betty Ford Center
Tessa Voss has over a decade of experience in the substance use disorder treatment field and is currently the Executive Director of the Betty Ford Center, a part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation where she oversees the operations of the site. She earned her Master’s from the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School. Tessa served for 7 years as Adjunct Faculty at the HBF graduate school, was a contributor in publishing of the Comprehensive Opioid Response with the 12 steps (COR-12), and has provided various external presentations on topics including Motivational Interviewing, Treating Health Care Professionals, and Addiction in the Workplace.

Karen Beauclaire, RN, BSN, PHN
Employee Health Program Manager
Karen Beauclaire is a registered nurse and public health nurse with over eleven years of occupational health experience. She recently joined the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation as the employee health program manager. Prior to joining Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, Karen worked for Regions Hospital and HealthPartners where she held roles as an employee health program administrator, lead nurse, and also served as a clinical lead for the organization-wide COVID-19 Resource Center and Taskforce. Karen is passionate about employee health and believes that supporting the workforce promotes our ability to do meaningful work and advance the mission of hope and healing.
