Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Available to you either virtually or in person, Hazelden Betty Ford's intensive outpatient programs (IOP) combine:

  • Evidence-based addiction treatment therapies and practices
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Education about Twelve Step principles and practices
  • Research-validated approaches to strengthen relapse prevention and long-term recovery from alcohol and drug addiction
  • Specialized IOP programming for those who have experienced trauma

A personalized treatment plan will guide your outpatient program at Hazelden Betty Ford. Developed by our outpatient treatment program experts, your plan will address the specific addiction challenges and mental health issues you are facing. In determining your diagnosis and designing your plan, our clinicians will draw from psychological, social and substance use disorder assessments as well as other evaluations that will help to inform your care.

As you meet clinical milestones, your substance abuse treatment team may transition you into a low-intensity outpatient treatment program.

Low-Intensity Outpatient Program

Offered both virtual and in-person, our low-intensity outpatient program gives you more opportunities to strengthen and solidify your recovery from substance abuse by building healthy new routines, developing your recovery support network, identifying relapse triggers and practicing relapse prevention skills.

Low-intensity outpatient treatment might be right for you if:

  • You're sober curious or just want to explore how using less could improve your quality of life
  • You're new to treatment
  • You've progressed through an inpatient or high-intensity outpatient treatment program
  • You are stable in your recovery and interested in developing healthy relationship skills or addressing other challenges such as grief or trauma.

DUI Deferred Prosecution Program

If you've recently been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in the State of Washington and are working with an attorney, you may be considering a Deferred Prosecution addiction treatment program. This type of treatment program typically involves intensive outpatient services or other outpatient rehab programs along with monthly monitoring groups as well as individual therapy and counseling. Hazelden Betty Ford can provide you with an assessment to help you determine your best course of treatment.

Offering both virtual and in-person addiction treatment options, Hazelden Betty Ford meets the Washington State DUI Deferred Prosecution requirements. If you opt for Deferred Prosecution, our rehab team is experienced in the program's requirements and will work with you closely—from first assessment through program completion.
