Our Services

Inpatient and Outpatient Rehab Programs

Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment

Hazelden Betty Ford’s evidence-based treatment model centers on delivering comprehensive, continuous and individualized care. With multidisciplinary teams providing integrated treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, patients receive complete care for all issues and complexities.

Unlike most other treatment programs, our psychiatrists, medical staff, therapists and counselors are on site, under one roof, round-the-clock to provide continuous care and address needs and concerns as they arise.

One year after treatment, 74 percent of our patients report being sober

Residential Treatment/Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient behavioral health services are ideal if you struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression grief or trauma in addition to substance use issues. Our specialized care teams address mental health challenges and substance use issues all together because the conditions and symptoms are interrelated.

Residential treatment patients begin in our medical unit where our physicians and nurses monitor the detoxification process and provide medications to ease any withdrawal discomfort or drug cravings.

You will live in a residential wing on campus and follow a daily schedule of activities and appointments individualized to meet your recovery needs.

  • Individual counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Educational sessions
  • Special-focus groups on coping skills, resilience, accountability and initiative
  • Integrated mental health services for co-occurring disorders
  • On-site schooling options in coordination with your home school
  • Wellness and recreational activities
  • Post-treatment planning, coaching and recommendations

As you progress, your care team will continually assess and adjust your treatment plan based on clinical and behavioral milestones.

Specialized Opioid Addiction Treatment

Our addiction rehab center in Plymouth offers specialized treatment for opioid use disorder. Known as Comprehensive Opioid Response with the Twelve Steps (COR-12®), the program is designed to ease the discomfort of opioid withdrawal, reduce cravings and help you engage more successfully in substance abuse treatment.

This targeted approach incorporates individual and group therapy, lectures and, as clinically advised, medications. Hazelden Betty Ford behavioral medicine clinicians developed COR-12 at the onset of the opioid epidemic with the aim of helping patients achieve stable, Twelve Step-based recovery and, ultimately, freedom from drug use.

The program has a proven track record of keeping patients engaged in recovery activities over a longer duration—allowing for the additional time needed to regain health, practice new coping skills, and form connections that support lasting sobriety.

Day Treatment

As the most intensive level of outpatient care, our day treatment program involves 20-30 hours of rehab activities and appointments a week. This level of care can be an ideal bridge from the 24/7 care and accountability of an inpatient program, or it can be the ideal level for your first rehab experience. You will have the best of both worlds: Integrated substance use and mental health rehab along with a supportive peer community to belong to while living at home. (Some day treatment patients choose to live on campus.)

Day treatment (known medically as partial hospitalization) can also be an effective level of care if you've experienced multiple treatment or recovery attempts. Our care teams will develop a highly personalized treatment plan to meet you where you are today and offer a new path forward.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Available in-person and virtually, our IOP level of care provides you with an individualized addiction rehab plan that incorporates counseling for ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma or other co-occurring mental health issues you may be experiencing.

The number of treatment sessions each week and the length of programming/services are based on your specific clinical needs. As you develop and strengthen healthy practices and gain more experience in recovery, the number of IOP sessions will decrease.

Recovery Support

Hazelden Betty Ford's help and support won’t end when you leave our treatment center. Many of the changes you start to make during treatment are new ways of living that take practice.

Our post-treatment services and resources are designed to empower your recovery and well-being for the long-term. And many of these resources are free.

  • Recovery coaching
  • Mobile apps
  • Inspirational emails
  • Online social communities
  • Web-based recovery tools

Care for Co-occurring Disorders

Substance use problems and mental health issues often occur in tandem. For example, you might start to drink or use other drugs to “self-medicate” for anxiety. The symptoms of an anxiety disorder can become more severe with increased substance use and, vice versa, substance use issues can become more intense as anxiety worsens.

With such complex conditions, the most effective approach combines addiction treatment and mental health services to address all issues together. That's how Hazelden Betty Ford care teams diagnose and treat co-occurring disorders (also known dual diagnosis).

Our services are provided by addiction psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, therapists and addiction counselors.

Outpatient and Online Services

Mental health services at Hazelden Betty Ford are available on an outpatient basis to the general public (individuals 12 years of age and older).

Our psychiatrists, psychologists and other licensed mental health professionals can help if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, loss, grief, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder—or you are just beginning to seek answers about possible symptoms or concerns.
