Driven by philanthropic support, Hazelden Betty Ford has opened a new location in Hudson, Wisconsin, this spring. The new site represents two exciting "firsts" for Hazelden Betty Ford.
It is the first time our services will be available in Wisconsin.
While hundreds of Wisconsin residents visit our Minnesota sites each year, Hazelden Betty Ford and committed local funders came together to introduce services that will be easily accessible to people in the community where they live and work.
We are grateful to the Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation; Heidi and Robert Hubbard; the Hubbard Broadcasting Foundation; the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation; Ruth and John Huss; the Ben and Mary Whitney Fund; and the William H. Phipps Foundation for helping to advance the timeline to make this site a reality. These visionary leaders have helped fill a vital need, as the country experiences a growing addiction and mental health crisis.
"My husband, Rob, and I are so pleased to be able to support this new site coming to Hudson," said Heidi Hubbard. "Having Hazelden Betty Ford's lifesaving care and resources in the St. Croix Valley strengthens our community and benefits us all."
The Hudson site is also our first to open with a "mental health first" focus.
This model of fully integrated substance use and mental health care will soon be available across Hazelden Betty Ford's 16 treatment sites. The advanced integrated model incorporates evidence-based therapies, personalized for each individual based on their needs and circumstances.
"So often substance use and mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression and trauma go hand in hand," explains John Engebreth, Hazelden Betty Ford's executive director of Minnesota and Wisconsin outpatient services, who is himself a native of Hudson. "We are opening this location to help residents of Western Wisconsin manage these interrelated conditions—all in one place, close to home."
The multidisciplinary care team at Hudson includes mental health and addiction counselors, nurses, psychiatric specialists and recovery support services. And services for family members will soon be available at the Hudson site as well.
"Having this community support and the generosity of local philanthropists means so much to all of us," says Danny Jordan, Hazelden Betty Ford's clinical services manager in Hudson. "We know there is a great need for services, and we're thrilled to be part of the Hudson community, making it easier for people to get the care they need."
